Traveling During Covid-19 2020

Choosing to visit the Dominican Republic during COVID-19 19 was a detailed plan. I researched the government guidelines (wwwnc.cdc.gov and do.usembassy.gov). There is no negative Covid-19 test required to travel there. I chose to get a PCR test before getting on the plane so that I would not infect anyone else, should I already be infected and not know it. I brought a letter with my test results with me just in case the airline and/or resort asked me for any proof. The Dominican Republic government sent me an email advising me that they were offering free insurance should I get sick while I was there which put my mind at ease.

I stayed on top of all information concerning Covid-19 on the Jet Blue website as well as the resort website and the CDC in case any last-minute changes were being made. I also scheduled my two tests upon my return to make sure I did not bring anything home with me.

As for any trip I take, I made sure my credit card companies were alerted I would be traveling as well as my cell phone carrier.

Arriving at JFK, my boarding pass was on my phone app and it was an easy process to print out my luggage tag at the kiosk. Everything was contact free. I was the person to put my suitcase on the conveyer belt and scan my passport through security. Making my way to the gate I noticed some people had their mask fully on and others did not due to eating a drinking. I sat in an empty area next to no one and waited for my row to be called.

On the flight JetBlue does still offers limited drinks and snacks but no alcohol. They repeatedly asked that you have your mask on once you are done eating and drinking and both flights no one was sitting in the middle seat.

For me, JetBlue checked all the boxes to have a safe and enjoyable flight!
